THE REASONS WHY WE WORSHIP THE LORD AS WE DO

Why do we stand and sing unto the Lord?

And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on High.

Why do we lift our hands?

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord.

Psalm 134:2

Why do we clap our hands?

O clap your hands, all ye people; shot unto God with the voice of triumph. 

Psalm 47:1

Why do we dance?

Let Israel rejoice in Him; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name in the dance.

Psalm 149:2-3

Why do we pray in the spirit?

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God. 

1 Corinthians 14:2

Why do we sing in the spirit?

The scriptures listed below refer to singing with hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs, and singing with the Spirit and also with understanding. We read in John 4:24 that God is a spirit and we are to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Ephesians 5:10, Colosians 3:16, and 1 Corinthians 14:5

Why do we have banners?

Come as a terrible army with banners. We use banners to signify warfare and stake our claim to the territory we are possessing in the spirit of our God.

Isaiah 13:2

Why do we Prophesy?

The Lord God hath spoken, who can prophesy? But he that propesieth speaketh unto men to edification, exhortation, and comfort.
